What We Collect

CountdownBoxes does not use cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics by default. We store the following data locally in your browser using localStorage:

  • Theme preference (light/dark)
  • Anonymous user ID (randomly generated, never linked to your identity)
  • Custom countdowns you create
  • Approximate location (if you grant permission, for prayer times)
  • Cookie consent preference
  • Gamification data (streaks, achievements)

Push Notifications

If you enable push notifications for event reminders, your browser generates a unique push subscription endpoint. This endpoint is stored on our server to deliver notifications. You can revoke this at any time through your browser settings.

Server-Side Data

Our database stores:

  • Event data aggregated from public APIs (no user-generated content)
  • Anonymous view counts for trending calculations
  • Push notification subscriptions (linked to anonymous IDs, not personal info)
  • Event reminders you set

Analytics

We may use Umami, a privacy-focused, cookie-free analytics tool. It collects anonymous page view data only — no personal information, no IP tracking, fully GDPR compliant. You can opt out by using any ad blocker.

Third-Party Services

Event images and data come from third-party APIs (TMDB, TVMaze, Apple Music, etc.). When viewing event images, your browser may make direct requests to these services. We do not control their privacy policies.

Data Retention

All localStorage data stays on your device and is never transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly interact with features like reminders. You can clear all local data at any time by clearing your browser storage.

Children

CountdownBoxes does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The service does not require registration or personal data.

Operator

CountdownBoxes is operated by Laser Revolver, a TV, streaming, and web engineering studio based in Istanbul and Dubai.
